Welcome to the Oakland CUSD #5 website. I hope that you are able to use our site to obtain the information you need and answer the questions you have. If at any time you are unable to find the information you are looking for, please call the district, and we would be happy to assist you.

As Superintendent of Oakland CUSD #5, it is my goal to prepare all of our students for not only the immediate future but also for their years beyond K-12 schooling. I hope that our students develop a life-long passion for learning. I want all of our students, Kindergarten – 12th grade, to enjoy coming to school and understand the importance and value of an education.

I am very excited about the direction Oakland CUSD #5 is heading in. I hope we can continue to meet the expectations of those that live in the district. Please feel free to contact me, Email Nate Pugh, or one of the other administrators if you ever have any questions or concerns.

Kendall Huffman, Principal

I am beyond excited to begin my administrative career here in the Oakland school district. I have been a classroom teacher for the last 13 years, and I am looking forward to expanding the impact that I can have on rural education in Illinois. I am from Granite City, IL, and live in Tuscola with my husband, Drew, and two children, Avery and Nash.

My goal for Oakland CUSD #5 is to become a rural destination school. In partnership with local and regional resources, I want Oakland students to have the same opportunities and educational experiences as students who attend any other school in the state. I also want to ensure that Oakland is doing everything possible to prepare our students for life after high school graduation. One of the many perks of a small school is that faculty and staff know their students, which can help us create a post-graduation plan for each high school student to ensure they succeed after their time here at Oakland.

The community that surrounds the school is just as much a part of the team as the faculty and students inside. Please do not hesitate to visit or call with any concerns or questions. Thank you so much for welcoming me into this community, and I look forward to the new adventure.
